Lipstick is Cleveland Beach Rock! Fun rock that gets inside you and leaves its mark! Lipstick is Cleveland, Ohio USA's all girl band, often referred to as Cleveland's Sweethearts, best known for their chart topping single, "I Want To Be With You Tonight:" Secondary hits are: "Put n Bay," "Don't Leave Me Lonely," "Breakin Out," and Mistreater. Lipstick's style is Cleveland Beach Rock -- something like the Go Go's meets Lita Ford: Catchy rock tunes that cross over a variety of genres (check it out), many referencing the Lake Erie beaches and summers in Northeastern Ohio, and with pretty good musicianship. The band began in the 1980s in Cleveland, Ohio USA. They were four, cute, young, girls with big dreams and loads of talent! They learned the business as they went and managed to stumble upon some great opportunities. They landed producer/songwriter Mark Avsec for their first record. Mark Avsec wrote songs for Bon Jovi, Carlos Santana, La Flavor and some others. He was with the band that did "Play That Funky Music White Boy" (Wild Cherry) and then he wrote and produced everything for Donnie Iris and Cruisers so Lipstick was pretty excited to have him as their producer. Their debut, "I Want To Be With You Tonight" landed a spot on the regional charts at number 14, was number 86 for the year, and landed in Billboard magazine as a "Listener's Hit." The band didn't find out for 5 years that they had also been played in England, Germany, and China -- "We didn't have the internet back then to check." Yes, they lost out on all the royalties! The band's music is still played. Luckily the internet is keeping it all alive! The band members are Lynda Fernback Konet (Bass), Donna Coss Bernsdorf (Keys) and Yvette "Jet" Williams (Lead Guitar). They have made jokes about appearing in gray wigs with rocking chairs but don't be fooled...these ladies are still looking good, still writing catchy beach tunes, and still rocking it!
