An experiment of a new genre: Metal, screamo, and christian?
I've been trying more and more to get closer to my favorite genre of music, rock and metal. I've found the instruments and the effects to do that, and as I wrote this latest song I realized... I need screaming vocals to add that intensity. So the experiment began. I don't intend to release this on an album, I've got plans for the up and coming album, and the current album is complete minus the album art and uploading it to bandcamp for consumption and download.
A reaffirmation of my direction though. I'm not quite at the sound I want to be. I want to combine the electronic elements of my previous work, and merge them with the metal elements I've been refining. I want to keep the christian undertone, but I don't want to leave the generic love messages that I've been writing about. So for those of you that have been fans since my first few albums, before the vocals, I don't plan to abandon you... You're on this news letter, I assume, because at some point you said "I like this sound, I want more" So as a public servant, I hope to deliver.
The college application is proceeding smoothly, the advisors say I'm exceptionally ahead of the game, people are still applying for april and I'm applying for the fall, so I'm in no need to rush. While I wait to get everything finished Youtube videos for music theory, and tutorials will help me learn things I never even thought of. Hopefully my music can remain fresh as I continue to add more.
Mental health is a factor, I've learned, of many musicians. The pressure to constantly produce better and better music, the constant scrutiny of whether something is good or not, the wasted effort on failed projects... all of these factors I'm bracing for, and beginning to understand where they're coming from. Your feedback (Positive) is greatly appreciated. I live in fear of the negative feedback but that's just a fact of life, gotta deal with it when it comes up. Its basically my performance review, but its all opinion in the end, what one hates another loves. I'll do my best to take care of myself, but to keep the pressure on, for my sake, and your benefit, to achieve my dreams... I can almost grasp the sound I'm aiming for... So close.
