Badly Bruised But Not Broken

Country song of heartbreak.

You can feel the undercurrent of pain, and the singer knows why, indicating that he is not broken and making every attempt to move on from said pain. A great traditional country song which I would recommend.

Love the intro, and the lyrics grabs you quick. Very good images and I like the melody too. This could be a George Strait song. The performances are all tight and the chord changes are fresh. Not much more to say. This one is a top shelf country song. One I would play and sing for years. My only thought was the ending. A two line bridge instead of the guitar break might make it better. But that's a small quibble. Good job!

What an amazing and chill tune! This country music at a new level. I love how you take the genre and just turn it into unique and amazing. You have some serious talent dude! The music accompanies the lyrics perfectly and makes that song even more relatable. I can tell by the lyrics that this was a personal experience just by the sheer emotion in your vocals. Keep it up lad! I look forward to hearing more of your music!

Great hook which reminds you of the story behind the song. A modern song yet with a genuine real Country Music feel to it, well performed by the singer. It makes me want to look out for more music from him.

Hi Larry, I like your song a lot. Musically, it has a nice flow. There's are a few vocal spots that could come up in the mix, they get a little buried on your low end. As a vocal coach in Nashville, I can hear a few phrasing areas I would have liked to hear you emphasis differently. Overall, it's a great sounding song lyrically and musically. God bless!

This song Larry, I like it from the get go. It's so true, not a easy life for being on the rodeo circuit. Love the way the guitar kicks it off, the fiddle and steel guitar, drums just makes me sing along. Like the guitar licks and your vocals are very good, I can just see the video for this song being made, with all the actions taken on this wild ride. Down but not out. Cowboy Up again. It's a very conversational song I really like it Nice job Larry Songedge

Larry's still crankin'em out

It seems that Larry Cann is on a roll lately. He just keeps writing great country songs one right after the other and here's another one! He's singing about heartache, physical pain from the injuries sustained out on the circuit, and emotional injuries garnered while in pursuit of the hearts. Everyone can relate to the simple fact that physical pain is nothing in comparison to the debilitating pain that the one we love is capable of inflicting upon us. Larry has found a way to put that into words so eloquently and effectively in this song about the greatest struggle known to mankind. The quest and pursuit of the heart. We've all been there and will be there again, and again, and again, and again! The circle will remain unbroken for all time. The pedal steel-telecaster interplay in this song is sweet and poetic. Larry really pays attention to the details when producing his music. I'm a real stickler for perfection in that department and that God, so is he! This song is clean as a whistle and bittersweet in it's message. His vocal delivery has the sound of a man who is truly, "Badly bruised, but not broken...". You can hear it in his voice. He is determined to win. This is not his best song, but the thing about Larry Cann is that he is so consistent! Even the songs of his that aren't as stellar as his best work, are far above the rest of the pack and still hit material. Hence, this could still be a solid radio ready classic.

Bruised, not Broken

Helpful

Badly Bruised, but not Broken is well produced pure Country. The first thing I noticed was some fine Country-style musicians and band-work that supported the story of the song. The music stands alone as a treat for the listener. The recording starts right off with strongly played electric guitar then brings in some sweetly played fiddle. The vocals are just as modern County vocals must be and the theme is heartache. The musical hooks repeat at just the right times. The drum is live instead of canned, thank you very much, and upbeat. I enjoyed the lyrics that contained perfect Country-appropriate word combinations such as: “… a road full of empty”. Also: The word “broke” that rhymed with the previous line of in the chorus is contained within the word “broken” providing a fresh approach. This met the need to rhyme with “broke” without being cliche. The words to the chorus are: “A bronc may throw me, a bull, may stomp me, but it's you that’s hurt me most Gotta get up keep goin’ heal the hurtin’, badly bruised but not broken” Larry Cann and Markus Meier have written and produced a successful Country song that was a pleasure to review.

Badly Bruised But Not Broken

A very nice song. Good, well thought out lyrics, good vocal, nice harmonies and good instrumentation. The guitar player has added some tasty little licks in between verses and in the chorus. All in all, a good toe tapping tune that I would listen to again.
