Nice tune!

Helpful

Australia’s Karen O’Brian has produced a nice tune about their hometown of Wallsend. Good Old Wallsend has a good rhythm track backing the earthy vocals. A nice tune to have on the radio while driving through the countryside.

Interesante

Interesante canción, me gusta el juego de las dos guitarras sobre todo, la voz está bien, la grabación no se escucha todo lo bien que debiera, pero está todo bien, sobrio y elegante y bonita melodía. Interesting song, I like the game of the two guitars above all, the voice is fine, the recording does not sound as good as it should, but everything is fine, sober and elegant and beautiful melody.

Review of Good Old Wallsend

First, the quality of the recording is rather subpar. My recommendation is that it be mixed better. The quality to my ears is not clear, and has some artifacts and degradation of the audio. About the song itself, good melody and lyrics. I can tell that the song was written about something true to the heart. Good melody. The singing can be better - I like the tone of the vocalist, but some of the notes were flat. The name Karen makes me think it's a woman, but it sounds like a man singing. Good instrumentation - especially guitar and organ, but the drums don't sound too realistic. Overall, good idea, but I think the song needs more work before being released to the marketplace.

Honest and True to self artistry...

Honest and True to self artistry... This is an example of pure honest music. I enjoy the "minimalist" production too... I, as a Producer like many of the choices that were made in this recording. My positive criticism is to pay attention to pitch and always give yourself somewhere else to go level wise. When writing, keep in mind the story you want to tell and what it takes to proceed on that journey for the listeners. A strong bridge would have been and obvious choice followed by a ket change to take the last chorus out... Many Thanks and for sharing ! Blessings :-)

Hi

I listen Your song 2 times trying to found something good..I think this is a "demo" I mean an Idea for a song and it need a Lot of Work on Arrangement.( to plain ) vocal ..( no energy ) and also overall production and Quality of The Recording.. so I think You will re write.. and re record as it is now I do not think Radio Stations DJ and Program Directors..will "jump" on it..same goes with Music Publishers ( They will listen Only Great Songs .. Radio Quality Recordings ).. I wish You good luck.. all the best for You..

Good Old Wallsend

Greetings Karen. First impressions at the intro are engaging and good. it sounds like the voice has gone through some effects, which makes it kind of hard to hear the words. Maybe even mix the vocals a little bit louder so as to be able to hear them. I had no connection to what, who, or where Wallsend was until I Googled it. Am I to gather that it is a town in Australia? Although you may have a deep attachment to that town, and want to sing about it, you probably won't be able to reach a wide audience. This would be a great local song however. I wrote a couple of songs about the area where I grew up, and it wasn't as well received on a wide audience because there was no hook for them. The comments came back that they were great songs, but there was just no relativity for htose far away from the region. Keep writing the good stuff though. Blessings, Trev :)

Peppy intro

Reminds me of the Grateful Dead a little, kind of psychedelic guitar and a laid back vocal. Good groove and easy to listen to. Nice accents and interplay between the instruments. Will have to listen a second time to focus on the lyrics but nothing seems out of place. Digging the guitars a lot. That's a fresh sound. The song is about his home and is a little personal but heartfelt and there's nothing wrong with that. Thank you for the song and have a g'day mate! :) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Promising

I like the vocals and the song is good. But there’s something strange about the mix. You might need to go over that one more time. Its kinda wobbly. With a better mix this song would really kick it. It really deserve a better mix. :)

Remarkable coutry pop song

Liked it right from the start. A nice song with a good feel from stanza to the chorus accompained by perfect guitar sounds. I like the drums hows simplifiying "kick-stuff" and still concentrated on the point. Sounds simple especially in the fillings, but this extra factor brings more engagemend into the song. Harmonically melodies inspired by electronic infused hamond sound are fantastic arranged and comes at the right time. The singer has a rather dynamic voice and a unique vocal projection. This song has definitely a important message and is more creative than some others. Overall a really impressive composition of a very talented musician, with a great accompaning bass in this recording. This is another fact what makes the whole arrangement complete. This country song reminds also on own problems and is not far away from normal radio hits. Overall a perfect composition and real good arrangement. I can´t stop listen to this song and I´m sure, you will like to add it. Let others know your recommendation.

Good Old..

Reading this category - how is a song pop, country and new age? That makes no sense. The music if charming and quaint. The vocals are muddled - I'm sure that's not the intent, but that's how it plays on my computer. As the song gets going, it's a bit clearer. I can get the country vibe, but new age and pop - not so much. I appreciate the effort made in putting indie music together and wish you lots of luck.

Good Old Wallsend Review

I like some of the arrangement, I do not like the vocal. The melody feels more like it should be a female vocal. I feel like some midrange of the arrangement is missing. Perhaps a remix (and new vocalist) is needed.

Great

Music was well put together and tight had kind of a Tom Petty vibe to it for me well done. The vocals are great but could maybe be brought out just a bit more, like the harmony. want to sit back grab a cold one and hear more, good job

Nice flow

Hi Karen, nice flow in this song here, creating a good feel. Unfortunately I didn't get much of the lyrics cause the singer is a bit mumbling. I think the song could be better if there is a little more separation between the parts, for my opinion the chorus doesn't stand out enough, first time I'd heard the song, I even thought there is no chorus at all. I like the underlying groove of the song that is really cool.

Cool !

Hello! A bass as soon as the song is introduced! Then a divine Hammond organ sound appears! Ha! I love the sound of the Hammond organ!!! The singer's eyes are a little veiled; It fits him well and it goes well with that composition. It emerges from this music of tranquility and serenity. I like the atmosphere that comes out of it. A very classical composition in its form, but well realized and well recorded: Cool!
