Song Reviews

Good songwriting

Love the song and vibe of it..I wanted to hear your vocals more pronounced and clear…was really my only complaint, well not a complaint per say just an observation really. Can tell you have a good voice just wanted it more upfront. Will listen on my monitors later and might add to this review. Thanks for sharing!

Strong Ballad

"When I Sleep With A Stranger", by John Anthony Saucier is a strong ballad with sound that is reminiscent of Joe Cocker. The melody is consistent and easy to follow as it accompanies the strong vocals and lyrics perfectly. The lead guitar comes in strong as well and fits nicely with the overall mood of the song. The voice is what makes the song in my opinion, and everything else fits nicely along with it.

A nod to Roy Orbison

A nice, slow moving piece with hints or Roy and the Beatles. A little John Lennon comes thru on the bridge as well, giving it a nice little flow. Again, the amount of spatial effect on the voice makes it difficult to make out and a less than stellar piercing guitar line subtracts heavily from the ending of the song. One would have to wonder what the recorded tracks sound like without Eq and effect, and would it benefit from just a hint of compression, a nice bump in the midrange and a more prominent placement for the voice.

Blues Best

One of the things I enjoy most about Number One Music artists is the newfound ability to hear music from around the world by singers who I'd never have the chance to listen to otherwise. That, in itself, is a great thing. Here, with this song John's painful vocals are pulling at our hearstrings in this impassions delivery. Musically, equally gripping. However, the recording of this has the vocals sounding like John's locked in the bathroom. His blue-y delivery, is, however, dramatic!

When I Sleep With A Stranger

Ok.. John Anthony Saucier has a voice that reminds me a bit of Joe Cocker which is nice, But I still don't understand the applause part. The music is well played and the song is quite good but the production could be better.. a better mix and sound maybe?

more

Hi I believe that not much happens of any significance when we're in our comfort zone. I hear people say, "But I'm concerned about security." My response to that is simple: "Security is for cadavers." There's an old Chinese saying that I just love, and I believe it is so true. It goes like this: "The temptation to quit will be greatest just before you are about to succeed."

When I Sleep With A Stranger

The structure in this composition is really cool and your vocal melody line is very good to listen. The biggest thing that jumps out at me is the same in many of your songs. It appears that they were recorded quite some time ago and the quality of the recording pales in comparison to what is being shopped around today's market. So, again I would suggest taking this into a good demo studio and getting it done with their studio musicians and possibly even try one of their singers that would take it to a new level for you. It isn't that your voice is bad, it's not. But you should always look at how you could make this song the very best it could be. Good luck again with what you plan on doing with your songs. Your writing is good.

A Good Song

I enjoyed this song which reminds me of something else. There is a really nice lead guitar solo, a great smokey vocal and there is great production too and a nice clean sound. Great job!! I will look out for more!

Audience?

Listened to this song and found it interesting. I ain't buying the audience, sounds like a prerecorded track. The crowd sound is crystal clear but the lead vocal is muffled but what to heck, it was a good idea. The song has nice chord changes and a good melody. The guitar work is good also. Can't understand the words though so I lose the story. Having said that, overall good job.

throwback time

Wow .... that's all i can say about this one. A major throwback to british invasion sixties. That is not a criticisim. I happen to be old enough to remember the era. Oh a great feel in the procalharumish chord progression to the airy psychedelic vocals. Love it all....... very fine quality production all the right balance between instruments, and vocals. And lastly i don't want to forget the guitar solo very typical of that era style and the execution are perfect and right on the money for this song ...love my friend.

Good work

Actually I came to think I liked the song by John Anthony knowing that basically this is not a good quality demo recording as such and certain things are definitely leaving much to be desired. More particularly I found that the guitar solo breaks were not always that good really. Lead guitar is not that good quite often. A good band needs a good guitarist in fist place. Anyway I liked the vocals, this is a strong point to the story.

Blues-Rock at his best

The song is really remarkable. All the way from stanza to the chorus accompained of rock-guitar sound and perfect played live drums. Great blues-rock song from the songwriter, guitarist and vocalist John A. Saucier. He has a very dynamic voice and vocal projection. Additional keyboard sound in the backing and rock-soli of the e-guitar make the music complete. The lyrics come from the heart and touching the soul. This arrangement is more creative than some others influenced by rock and pop music and I´m sure, you will like to add it. Let others know your recommendation.
