Jody Trehy has been writing and performing inimitable folk-rock songs in Ireland and the UK for the past few years. A performer of singular wit and style, he brings an unconventional and dramatic voice to the singer-songwriter scene blending a dynamic mix of musical and theatrical styles in tune with poetic lyrics, infectious, soulful melodies and socially engaging subject matter,
Jody recently returned from the Edinburgh and Brighton Fringe Festivals with an array of rave reviews and was shortlisted for the Brighton Fringe Award For Excellence for his show Involuntary Noises, the songs of Jody Trehy. He has also spent much of the year touring Ireland with a sublime outfit of international musicians to coincide with the 2016 release of his current album: Involuntary Noises.
On record, Jody has produced two well-received EPs: Secret Rose and Presence and one full album: Promise. In 2009, He was commissioned to write songs for the Irish hit comedy: Macbecks, which ran in the Olympia Theatre, Dublin and the Cork Opera House. He has also written a musical satire: Eejit Of Love, which was produced and broadcast by RTE in 2012/2013 and ran to considerable critical acclaim in the Edinburgh Fringe 2015. 2017 will see him developing lyrics and music for a new musical adaptation of an old anti-war film entitled: The Boy With Green Hair, in collaboration with award-winning director: Mick Gordon.
