Sensual, quirky and prolific are some of the words to describe singer/songwriter/voice artist Joanna Finch.
A versatile, eclectic Canadian musician with a sinuous voice, Joanna's mastery of vocal sounds and styles take you on an aural journey from a 1940's jazz bandstand to indie pop and into a world of natural freevoice sounds with vocal improv noises.
Joanna's music ranges from world roots to jazz, blues, classic cabaret and noise. Love, nature, justice and whimsy are themes that inspire Joanna's music.
When she's not performing Joanna inspires others to explore their voice in her VocalEase Transformative Voice and Movement workshops.
-In 2006 In The Arms of Morpheus was nominated Best Album of The Year and Joanna was nominated Best Female Singer at VIMA.
-Notable performances include: main stage Vancouver Island Music Fest, guest showcase at 2007 Disabled Persons International (DPI) in Winnipeg; South American Jazz showcase with Jorge Triana in Cuenca Ecuador; Vancouver International Jazz Festival; opening for/performances with Rita MacNeil; Jane Siberry; Steve Dawson and Jesse Zubot; Tarig Abubacar and The Afro Nubians.
Joanna's songs have been licensed for use on MTV, Cable channel ads and various TV programmes. Her music is played regularly on international radio. Albums include The Cabaret Collection (unreleased 2012) Moreuphorea- Duets (JoBird MUSIC 2011) In The Arms of Morpheus, (Root cellar Records 2006; Tease For Two (Independent, (expired link), 2000), Circular Motion (2004) and Rhythm and Green (2002).
