Song Reviews

Textures of Melodic Melancholy

Sparkling song structure, and chord progressions. Vocal delivery is reminiscent of a Peter Murphyesque; moody, sensuous and haunting. Music has a bit of a Manchester feel to it....Stone Roses/Catherine Wheel. This song is nicely produced, and I feel it has a lot of potential in Indie rock.

Great Quality Recording

Good song. I just wanna first say, this is not really my type of music, though I like most genres and losten to various styles, my roots are planted deep in the underground indie scene and far from mainstream. That said, regardless, this is a great recording, tracked well and mixed well. Catchy even though lacking "hooks" It can captivate you without the standard sing along chorus. A Talented artist will make good music. Period.

yes

spires review. this song is a strictly alternative piece in the highest sense of the word. everything sounds in alternative style as I said everything recalls the alternative genre. personally it is not my favorite genre but I can give you a musical judgment that is certainly positive because all that there must be in a alternative piece in your piece is therefore complimented and continues. good job

Indie Rock in modern style

This track is a great mixture of indie rock and alternative music in combination with patterns of electronic textures and persistent beat. Great studio recording where all instruments really there, where they should be on a track of this quality. The intro starts of with catchy chords of an acoustic guitar which is playing the main role in this arrangement. But the whole song is more various. The imaginative transitions from the stanza to the chorus are accompained of a flanger-effected e-guitar creates a soft space in the backround. The singer brings with his unique vocals a distinctive feeling into the song. The melancholic passion of the lyrics comes from the heart and makes the meaning of the song engaging for me. Smooth orchestrated modulated electro sounds carries the recording in the backround. The unconventional effects brings a psychedelic feel into the music. I like the monotony of the track because of sparse instrumentation which is professionell mixed and digital mastered by producer Rob Murray in appropriation of different music styles. Overall a really impressive arrangement. This song could be a radio hit! Cool track though and there´s obviously more where that came from.

Hidden Shapes - Spires

Hidden Shapes hail from San Diego California but this particular track entitled Spires is redolent of British Indie Rock and New Wave. I would be fascinated to find out Hidden Shapes influences but I am sure there is a bunch of British heritage sounds in the mix. The track is a hypnotic blend of great vocals, an insistent beat and some great guitar and keyboard interaction. Superbly produced and well structured this is one of the best examples of undiscovered music on NumberOneMusic. The track features a great vocal sound and a catchy melody in suitably minor keys that stay with you long after the final notes have floated away. I would really recommend a listen if your bag is Indie Music. One of the best tracks I have heard in a while. Check out Hidden Shapes.

Bowiesque

Intro has a very Bowies influence (Space Odditty) . This is good indie guitar rock that has a pleasant production although it could be a bit better and sounds self produced although I could be wrong. A worthwhile listen but can't help thinking it could be developed into something even more special as it travels at one level and could do with a bit more intricut production and arrangement to give it more dynamics. Overall this act has promise and worth keeping an eye on.
