In a pro career spanning 30 years and five countries, Cincinnati-born jazz guitarist Greg Chako has released 10 CDs, 4 videos, and been the subject of a documentary called, “An American Cat in the Lion City.” Performing worldwide; on TV; and in jazz festivals, his 50+ original compositions take listeners on a unique cross-cultural jazz journey of syncopated rhythms, soulful melodies, hard-swinging jazz, and exotic percussion.

Vince Lewis for Just Jazz Guitar, said Greg’s music, “Transcends geographic boundaries and cultures and communicates the happiness and friendship that all music should provide.” Keith “MuzikMan” Hannaleck of Jazz Reviews, says he paints “A magnificent jazz mosaic providing a sumptuousness and extensiveness rarely found in any genre.” Of Greg’s last CD, a solo effort called, “My World on Six Strings,” Gene Bertoncini said, “The complete package, a total orchestra – I love his arrangements!”

His formal education includes outstanding DMA work at The Eastman School of Music. Having taught numerous styles and techniques to pros and amateurs alike, Greg’s teaching is learner-centered, focusing on the student’s needs and wants to help them develop the skills necessary for them to express themselves with music and reach their full potential.
