Demetrice Everett is mostly known by the nickname “Meat” and stage name “ Meatdadrummer.” He is a versatile drummer and is multi-talented individual who can play several styles of music. Demetrice is from the small town of Aulander NC and his passions for drums started at an early age. During his teenage years he participated in talented shows, concerts and many other events to display his talent. Demetrice has performed throughout the country and has played for numerous gospel artists such as: Marcus Cole, Timothy Wright, LeAndria Johnson, Jessica Reedy, Shirley Ceaser, Beverly Crawford, Duranice Pace, LaShaun Pace, Lucinda Moore, Norman Hutchinson, Latice Crawford, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Deitrick Haddon, and many more. He has also played with jazz pianoist Marcus Johnson, saxophonist Marcus Anderson, Orlando Dee Lucas, Bernard Johnson and Bunny Clyde. He has played for and toured with American Idol finalist Anoop Desai. Demetrice has several credits to his name from drumming on a variety of albums and live recording appearances.
Demetrice is also known for his involvement in the community. In 2011 he attended the Red Carpet Gala awards where he received a Dream Chaser award on the behalf of the community. He has participated in drum clinics, music workshops, drum instructing and motivational speaking with the youth. In 2008, Demetrice was featured in the Black Nobility Magazine with a two-page article written about his life and music career. He was also honored to play at The 33rd Annual Cystic Fibrosis event hosted by WCTI-12 newscast. He has also appeared on NBC17, WITN-7, WRAL5, The Gospel Music Workshop of America, The Rhythm of Gospel Awards and the National Association of Music Merchants. Demetrice endorse Silverfox drumsticks where he is provided with custom signature drumsticks.
Demetrice is influenced by dynamic drummers such as Buddy Rich, Dennis Chambers, Dave Weckl, Calvin Rodgers, Will Kennedy, John Robert, Vinnie Colaiuta, Calvin “Coon” Napper, George “Spanky” McCurdy, Chris Coleman and his mentor Jeremy Haynes.
In between recording and playing shows, Demetrice is working on completing his first album and studying the skills of music production. He is currently drumming for Billboard Jazz artist Marcus Anderson. He has four songs; “Perfect Timing” featuring gospel recording artist Marcus Cole, “It’s My Time”, “Rainy Day” and his latest single “Still Alive.” All of his music is available for purchase through his website (expired link).
