Nice “slice of life” song.

I sincerely enjoyed this song. Very easy-to-listen-to. Gentle melody and guitar playing. Real sweet folk song. The analogy of life passing by and the train rolling by is real and something we can identify with. Also, I liked the fact that this is NOT a loud song. If you’re looking for rap or heavy metal, this isn’t for you. This is a real sweet tune that is made for those who want o listen to the words and be taken on this journey. Well-written and performed in an easy-going manner. There should be more music like this on mainstream radio.

Liked it right from the start. Mixing and mastering is perfect and all instruments really stand out. Brilliant finger-picked acoustic guitar plays the main role in this composition. The lyrics come from the heart and sound like a melancholic story what make the meaning of the song engaging for me. An extra factor is the Hawai-guitar sound which brings really beauty into the arrangement. Great songwriting and unique vocals make this song more creative than some others. Overall a really impressive recording by David Moss. I find it extremely good and feel compelled to listen again. This one could be a radio hit and it´s an original. Listen to the song and I´m sure you will like to add him. Let others know your recommendation.

A beautiful heartfelt song with a haunting vocal sung with a delicate tone. The guitar rolls along perfectly to complete this song that is both moving and enchanting. Big respect from us at horizontal and thank you for putting up your track.

On of my favorite genres of song writing. Well done! The story line is compelling and really grabs on to your heart, wanting you to stay and listen to the entire tune. The instruments behind the lyric are nearly perfect in their attitude and composition as well. One thing I might do ( and this is only me talking ) is to make the intro one stanza shorter to get to the story a bit quicker. Nice tune!

Sometimes, you don't need lyrics ... but the music is telling you everything.

The first feeling i had when this songs start playing, is a mémrory of myself discovering Pink Floyd "The Wall" and those small songs inbetween the mains tracks. An heavy story behind soft words and peacefull music. Judging by the description, the story seems to be quite sad (he's talking about his own story, being taken away from family at the age of five), but you feel like he's at peace when he sings about it and you can't stop feeling a littler lighter yourself. The balance between guitar and voice is refreshing and put you straight at ease. Do not let "The Train Rolled By" .... roll by without a click ! Sorry for my english, it's been a while since i've been abroad ! Isidor

I am so pleased to have found you today. I also play guitar and was immediately drawn to your style and your voice. This is a beautiful song and the train like tempo had my foot tapping. The sad tones of the song, remind us all the truths of growing up. Sights and sounds become the background to our own sound track but I am glad to have found one of yours. Amazing ....

Great song Dave. These "Momentary burst of inspiration "are evident in your theme, plot, and flow of this song. Accompanied by a host of instruments that added quality to the story. Good job Dave Moses, I'll look for you live.

You have a pleasant listening voice and the music is simple but tasteful. The mix is well balanced and the song fits definitely into the acoustic folk genre. This song is a quiet ballad, with a blues background, but a sophisticated sound too. The guitar only touched gives this effect. So we can listen your voice better and this is a positive thing.

My wife and I listened to "The Train Rolled By" together. She is still wiping tears from her eyes, and I'm trying hard not to let her see that I have tears in my eyes as well! What a great song! And what a great voice singing it! David, you have managed to put the perfect package together... Your voice, the simple elegance of the music, and the sincerity of the words, all work so well! How proud you must be of this one! My wife and I are hoping this song is part of an album, and that we can track it down to purchase it! (David, my name is Diane, and I am Michael's wife. He read me the review you just read, and played me your song. I was as impressed as he was...and I might mention that my husband has played venues all over the world., and been a very successful songwriter and performer in his own right. Thank you so very much for letting us hear your beautiful voice and wonderful guitar! We both hope to hear much much more from you!

From the Heart

The best songs are usually from personal experience and this one is straight from the heart. I like the simplicity of the arrangement, with the finger picking flattop and the layered vocals and volume swell leads. Ending on the V chord suggests that the healing process is not completed and that there will be more to this story. Good writing!

New City of New Orleans

I hear shades of Arlo Guthrie ala 'City of New Orleans' in this song both musically and thematically. Notwithstanding this connection, the song is very much an original composition highlighting the artist's excellent fingerpicking and vocal talent. The harmonies in the chorus are especially gratifying and solidify the reflective and introspective mood of the song as do the thoughtful lyrics.

Hello from France! Great folk song! Nice picking guitar . It would be realy good if it wase more present in the mix (probably a different place of the microphone during the recording) but it is a detaile. The voices are great too. Keep it up!

David Moss' recording of "The Train Rolled By" is a truly moving true story of a boy given up for adoption at the age of 5, set to a railroad tempo country tune. The song begins with a steel guitar intro, faintly reminiscent of a train whistle. The acoustic guitar work is clean and the lead vocal is pleasant and solidly on pitch. Nothing flashy, but tells the story with authenticity and depth. Made my day!
