Being a honky-tonk music fan, can be a lonely place these days. So, imagine my surprise when i click on ' the Whiskey', and get a rare breath of, not clean air, but good ol' smoke-filled bar sound! Man, I loved it! It's clean, it's honest, and a piece of honky-tonk heaven! Don't change nothin'. Just keep on, keepen' on!

I choose my songs to review very carefully. I came across yours. The tempo and genre are a great fit for your vocal. The upbeat melody had me wanting to dance. Vocal was very clear and easy to understand. The message also clear. Whiskey does not work to drown heart ache. Great writer behind this piece. What would have made it a perfect 5 star. Little more base. Great Job and good luck. Michelle Storm Singer/Songwriter/Publisher Owner of Platinum Storm Records

The rockingist tune I have heard in a long, long, long, long time. One thing about this tune is it has whiskey on the breath. Country tune that is enamored with alcohol will always justify the reason for the written tune. Alcohol in all it's glory, and Country Music is here to support it all day long. A number 1 hit on N1M is what this tune is at it epitomizes the greatness of the American Dream. To drown your sorrows in Whiskey. What a pleasure to see this Chap #1, truly deserving

This song was a pleasure to review! I like this better than many of the songs I hear on the radio at this point. Great job from David. I like the beat. I like the pedal steel and his voice wrks well with the arrangement. I was surprised to see he is from Australia, but we have had some great music come from there, some of them country. I will be watching this guy! RB

OLD PREMISE REVIVED VERY WELL IN "THE WHISKEY" BY DAVID DANIEL!

Helpful

It seems that country is actually worldwide! Australian David Daniel has a new song on N1M called "The Whiskey," and I think it's pretty good. The lyrics explore a tried-and-true premise about how drinking doesn't make our hero feel better after his wife/girlfriend leaves him. But it sounds good to me. Musically it seems to be a hybrid between traditional country (which I respect) and modern country (which I prefer). And my wife likes it too, and she isn't a modern country fan! So Mr. Daniel must be doing something right in the land down under. Keep up the good work!

Exciting Whiskey

I don't enjoy drinking whiskey, but I enjoyed this song. Modern beat and amazing vocals. I felt like I was in Nashville, feeling all of the intense excitement. When I write lyrics, I always have to think of a strong beginning and a thoughtful chorus, and this artist had everything nicely packaged here.

This is a cool country vibe. Melodic, well arranged progression. Needs a remix. Has the potential for radio airplay with the right Artist if pitching the song. If the current performer wants to release it himself, it could go. Lyrically, using cliche lines would be better served unused. Overall, catchy story. Pat Melfi, StarPointe Records, Pro

Cool opening guitar riff! Love the pedal steel guitar on this track. To be honest, the vocal does not seem to fit this song well. It can work on other material. The lyrics are fine, typical country.

Whiskey Works!

Some classic country sounds including a sweet pedal steel opens this tune and quickly turns into an homage to many of the familiar drinking tunes. Bound to be an instant bar favorite with a steady sway along dance beat and tasty guitar lead work throughout. Cool dual lead duel in the solo section brings us back to that singalong chorus that we've all memorized by now. Oh what to do when the whiskey sure ain't working anymore. Guess we'll have to wait and see what the follow up tune to this eternal honky tonk dilemma! Great Effort, Nice Tune!

Great Introduction, solid musicianship and a real drummer too! I like the pedal steel. It feels out the middle, you do't miss the keyboard. The guitar player has chops. This is a good overall mix and mastering but the bass and bottom could be more present to make it more radio friendly. For a radio friendly mix the bottom has to be very present. The mix right now is very mid range. I'd like to hear the vocal mix upfront in the mix with more reverb effect. Some of the lyrics get lost. Background vocals to support the chorus or ooh's and aah's in the lift section of the song. Though the song is fine as it is. It is predictable c/w, and the c/w market likes predictable, such as: liquor, girls, jeans, tank tops, trucks, Mom, trains, horses, broken hearts, and the old hometown. For unique c/w with great writing twists take another look at what Willie, Kris, Merle, Lyle Lovett, Marty Robbins, Roger Miller, Jimmy Webb, Townes Van Zandt, Brooks and Dunne, Bob Wills, and the master Hank Williams Sr. Their lyrics are unforgettably brilliant. I encourage you to write brilliant music. This is a good track though. You know what you are doing. I enjoyed it.

I liked it David. The guitar licks were great. If you did the recording you did a fine job. As far as Lyrics I was in Nashville long enough to know opinions are endless. I try to use as many pure ryhmes as I can unless there's no other way and the line is essential. In that case I'll use a near ryhme. From what is on the charts apparently it doesn't seem to matter anymore as much as it used to. I liked your vocals as well! Great song. Good luck!

Hi David, I must say that I really enjoyed your song, "The Whiskey". Took me back to the late 60s early 70s, when country music was still country. I thought the vocals were fine, matched the story line, I enjoyed the music, it had a nice beat. I hope country music is still appreciated in Australia. If there was any negative thing in my mind, which probably isn't really negative, just a matter of opinion, It might be a little long, but that's just an opinion. Best of luck to you and keep cranking them out! Gary Lewis & GSB-USA

I agree with just about everything that has been reviewed on your song. The backing would have been back a little. This is a trap that many of us have fallen into when recording. Your diction is a little hard to pick up I feel because of this. The song moves along great and hope it does well for you

DId you write it. Its a great song. I would say very commercial. Vocals are a little pitchy but, most wouldn't notice. Nice tamber to your voice and the song is solidly written. I think you have a good song here. Look forward to hearing more from you.
