Hello, greetings and happy fall. I hope you’re staying safe. It’s strange on how this covid-19 thing has redefined our norm. We’re wearing masks, social distancing, being tested, in some cases quarantined. It’s crazy. We should be fortunate that we live at a time we have virtual technology in where we can utilize the internet for an alternate. Think about it if we didn’t have this technology. Anyway, gigs have picked up! YAY!!! One group hired me to do a virtual concert for a conference. I video recorded some songs of me performing and will be giving them that video so they can show at their conference. I will also be performing at a pool party here next week with a 3 piece band. I’ll be looking forward to that. If you have an event coming up and need some entertainment, please let me know. I can perform live or do a video. Either way. ------------------------------------------------ Lesson from Bugs Life ------------------------------------------------ I love Pixar movies and Bugs Life is one of my favorites. If you haven’t seen it, please do. There’s a part in the movie in where Flik (an adult male ant) is talking to Dot (a child female ant) that someday she will do great things even though she is very small right now. Flik uses the analogy by showing her a rock and telling her to pretend it’s a seed – a tiny seed and then he shows here how big the trees are . He tells her that the very large trees all came from a tiny seed. Flik explains to Dot that it takes time to grow and don’t rush the process. This analogy reminds me of a verse from the bible when Jesus describes the power of faith in Mathew 17:20: "...Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, Move from here to there, and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” I have actually seen a mustard seed and it’s so tiny that one can barely see one. It’s amazing from one perspective that it requires very little faith to move a mountain but it’s sad from another perspective that our faith is so weak and not even to the level of tiny mustard seed. It almost seems to easy. Very little faith can move a mountain but why do we lack in this ? Why is it hard to have faith ? even a little ? Maybe it’s because we have forgotten who we really are. We are wrapped in a culture that is surrounded by lies, deception, hate, evil of all sorts and we hear about it all the time on. We see it on TV and on social media and we have grown accustomed to it and think that it’s no big deal. So, when were bombarded with lies and deception , our faith gets weak especially when we start believing the lies and then later find out we’ve been believing a lie. This destroys our faith. So, who are we really ? In Philippians 3:19-20 Paul tells us that many live as enemies of the cross of Christ but our ( meaning Christ followers) citizenship is in heaven. See God created all people and we are not citizens of this world of sin but are citizens of heaven where there is no sin but overflowing love. Even though we are citizens of heaven, we still live in this world as ambassadors to help and teach others. So maybe the first step in building our faith is to realize we are part of a world that has no lies deception ,hate or any kind of evil. Another way to build faith is to stop listening to the lies and start listening to the world we are citizens of and that is heaven /God. Romans 10:17 tells us that Faith comes from hearing the word of God. So, we also need be listening to the truth and not the junk. We need to be constantly connected to God’s word so as to increase our faith. Hebrews 11:6 also indicates that without faith it’s impossible to please God. So, let’s all try to increase our faith so we can overcome this pandemic and overcome the evils that plague our nation , world. Remember , all the faith we need is a mustard seeds worth.
