About Dave Norman

Dave is an Environmental acoustic singer/songwriter. Founder of the Mango Hill & North Lakes Environmental Group (find us on Facebook !) he has been heavily involved in the fight for the local wildlife and environment around Australia. His first song, 'Song for the Koala' is up on YouTube and part of an exhibition at the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital, he then went on to write 'It's Hard to be a Dingo' for the Jane Goodall Institiute's Day of Action for the Dingo, which received Highly Commended at the 2015 Queensland Music Awards and also received a personal letter of thanks from Jane herself ! Since then Dave has gone on to write more songs and has played at many venues recording with legendary Aussie guitarist Phil Emmanuel brother of the globally renowned Tommy Emmanuel.
As Dave says 'Songs seem to be a great way to get the message across to everyone. We're lucky to have such amazing wildlife in Australia, let's protect it !'

Kudos:

Thought provoking song..Nice instrumentation. Musically nice feel, but it's the lyrics that really grab you. There are animals all over the planet going through the same fate. Great job bringing their story to the forefront – 'It's Hard to be a Dingo', Burt Royce, singer/songwriter, New York, USA

I love the Dingo effects that you use intermittently through the song and the way you start and finish with it. I thought the lyrics were spot on for the issue that you are bringing to peoples attention, and you have chosen the right kind of melody and genre of music to present them. - 'It's Hard to be a Dingo', David Carrett, Singer/Songwriter, UK

I am a koala fan and very sad about what is happening to their habitat. Your song made me cry … - 'Song for the Koala', Jacqueline C Schindler, Presidency Zeno Karl Schindler Foundation, Geneva (Sponsor 'Koala Blues EP')

To my knowledge, which is admittedly imperfect, “The Silent ANZAC”. is the only song about a WWI submarine that has ever been written! Nice atmospheric arrangement, and the song remains true to the story of the AE2, which I have read about on couple of occasions – 'The Silent ANZAC', Eric Bogle Singer/Songwriter of 'The Band Played Waltzing Matilda'

Thank you Dave Norman for putting this out there. Great to see somebody giving attention to the forgotten, yet iconic animal . Also a wonderful pseudonym for the treatment given to the indigenous people of this country and any country really. I appreciated the dingo howls and the lightness of the melody, rather than going for something heavy and intense. This approach carries the message well without drowning in pity. Well done. - 'It's Hard to be a Dingo', Paula Standing, Singer/Songwriter

Some wonderful songs you've written here, Dave. You play guitar beautifully. Keep up the great work. - Ange Takats, Singer/Songwriter

Your song is beautiful and very haunting it will make a stunning video. - 'It's Hard to be a Dingo', Marie-Louise Sarjeant (Jane Goodall Institute)

I think it is FANTASTIC. The writing, singing and background photography combine to create something very special. - 'It's Hard to be a Dingo', Dame Jane Goodall

Great song, love it. - 'It's Hard to be a Dingo', Steve Parish, photographer

That sounds awesome!! Great work!!
Are you going to professionally record the koala song?? ... I had another listen and I really like it! - 'Song for the Koala', Meghan Halverson (Queensland Koala Crusaders)

Song is beautiful. Made me snuffly! You have a lovely voice. All sounds very professional. Not just saying that. - 'Song for the Koala', Jill Richardson (QKC)

I really like it as a song! I can see its potential now ... I think your onto a winner! - 'Song for the Koala', Alex Collins (MHANLEG)
