About Darrell Arnold

Darrell Arnold's compositions are soulful folk-rock, with a twist of country blues. Darrell now lives in Surfside, FL, where he regularly plays his own material and as part of the Sarah Jacob Trio. He has just returned to the studio for the first time for over 10 years to record new songs and new arrangements with the Miami musicians Jack Shawde, Diane Ward, Matthew Sabatella, and Max Farber. It is a promising Americana CD, sure to excite fans of the genre.

Darrell lived in Germany in the 1990s and early 2000s, working there into the club scene and playing as opening act for Canned Heat, Eric Burdon and the New Animals and for two tours of The Yardbirds. In 2002, he won a German national prize for CD production of the Year with the German Pop and Rock Music Association.

The songs featured here are found on two earlier CDs. EVERYDAY STORIES was produced by Klaus Bohlmann and Hendrik Schaper at Camilion Studios in Hamburg. It features Darrell on lead vocals and rhythm guitar; Mayo, guitar; Thomas Juaer, bass; Aachim Stephan, drums. HERE OR SOMEWHERE ELSE has earlier versions of two of these songs, recorded in Beau Garage Studios, Amsterdam, with Chris Beckers, but the versions of the songs here are digital releases, recorded with Klaus Bohlmann and Hendrik Schaper.

Darrell Arnold has no Merchandise yet.

New Blues CD

Hey folks:

I'm recording a new blues CD. For grins, I attach a photo of me looking more like a blues guy than every. Anyway, check out my facebook site for updates on that. Unfortunately because of royalties issues, I won't be able to upload songs from that here. But I will see about trading out some of the songs here for others that I can share. If you get a chance, besides checking out facebook to keep up with new developments, check out my CD "Changing World" on Youtube. For now, maybe have a listen to "Welfare Checks" if you haven't heard it or haven't heard it for a while. Thanks all for your support! Best, Darrell

Thanks and concert announcement

Hey all!

Thanks for listening to and sharing my songs. I've been getting nice messages from a few of you, too. I really appreciate that. If you haven't listened to "Welfare Checks" yet, you might have a listen. It's been doing well on the Florida Americana and Blues charts.

For any of you in South Florida: It'd be great to meet you if you can join us for a show at the Zen Mystery Cafe in Dania Beach next Friday. I'll play for an hour beginning at 10:15 (expired link). I'll be joined by the amazing South Florida artists, Jack Shawde, on guitar, and Diane Ward, on drums. The cafe is a cool little place with great food and craft beers. $10 cover. If you can make it there, please introduce yourself.

Best all!
Darrell

Happy New Year!

Hey all! Happy New Year to you!

I have resolved this year to to read some good poetry for inspiration and write some new songs. Dylan Thomas is the first poet on my list. If he's good enough for Bob, he's good enough for me. And I'll be interested to see where the inspiration leads. In any case, for now, I thought I'd promote an older song that I more recently put up on N1M and that I'm happy to say has made it to number 1 in the Florida Folk Rock charts here. Since most of you know my Americana genre songs, it occurs to me that some of you might not have heard this one--somewhat differently classified. I leave you with a quote from Thomas below. Hope you enjoy. And have a beautiful day and new year!

Poetry is what in a poem makes you laugh, cry, prickle, be silent, makes your toenails twinkle, makes you want to do this, that, or nothing, makes you know that you are alone in the unknown world, that your bliss and suffering is forever shared and forever all your own.
