Hey y'all, First, thank you to all of you who've been hanging with me on N1M for the last few years. It's time I told you about my trip over 74 years and explained where my sound comes from, so I've replaced the 'About Me' part of my N1M page with a more in depth sketch of all that, and something I invented called the Jazzuit Order (NOT A CULT) and I hope you'll take a minute to read it. Something else I'd like to do is offer to help any of you who haven't found your special voice, the one that's totally yours and different from anyone else's. Big Secret #1: You have two (2) voices. Hearing your recorded voice (Voice 2) is always somewhat 'alien' compared to what you hear and feel in your head while you're singing (Voice 1). That shocks and frightens lots of singers away from the serious work of ACCEPTING, then bringing your voice into focus with who you are and how you want to say, or sing, what you mean. ACCEPTING is the hard part. The rest is fun . . . and hard work. Every one of my songs used to be an effort to reconcile what I think is coming out of me (Voice 1) with what other people are actually hearing (Voice 2). You must ACCEPT that Voice 1 and Voice 2 will never sound the same to YOU. But only to YOU. You'll always sound the same to THEM. And guess what . . . THEY like what they're hearing . . . THEY 'get' you. In your performance THEY can hear what you mean to be saying from deep inside you. And that's the big secret no one will ever tell you, the one you must discover for yourself by ACCEPTING your voice -- inside (Voice 1), and out (Voice 2).
