Trichotillomania (Featuring Pidgey Otto)

Capt'n Neckbeard I thought your song was very different from any other song I have ever heard.... I laughed throughout the song because I thought there was so many different areas but overall you did something that could end up going viral due to the way you chose to structure the song... next time I would suggest just sticking to one format and you should be fine!

You say say you don't really care about reviews, well may be you should. I am wondering what sort of medication you are on.If you are not on medication then may be you should think about getting some.I can't make rhyme or reason out of what you are trying to do. But if it's any consolation i love the cat in the picture. Now and then you might want to try and sing , hum or what ever and try and stay in key.

Interesting and unique

Trichotillomania is a mish-mash of sounds and instruments that come together as an interesting and completely unique sound. The Cap't uses all kinds of sounds that you usually don't hear in popular music along with what I am guessing is a cat or small dog or some small animal adding some background. Like I said interesting. He does have a melody floating around and it is itself interesting. This tune runs a little long but I guess that is OK. Everyone seemed to be having fun on this Spike Jones type compilation.

Whoa!!

This is a out there that's for sure I laughed a lot I hope that's what you were hoping to achieve. If so mission accomplished. You've created a Sesame Street meets Captain Kangaroo. Some parts were extremely annoying but funny all the same. The kazoo playing was good I guess I can now say I've heard kazoo in harmony!! Not sure if I would take those drugs again if I were you. Good luck with your tunes ~Ã₩Ź~

Let's go for some In and Out...

Some of the other comments are correlating this piece to Frank Zappa. Before a Zappa-esque certification is placed on this music, one should consider/remember that Zappa did not record in garages or bedrooms [at least not from around 1966 forward]. He captured his art in pro studios and was very innovative using the studio as instrument in ways too lengthy to cover here. I sometimes view Zappa's music as a clown car but built on the chassis of a Rolls Royce. "Trichotillomania" is more like a clown car [but with a serious intent as some clowns have!!] built on a Volkswagon chassis. Each not necessarily "better" than the other but certainly different. So, I would venture to say that Neckbeard has clearly achieved the essence of Zappa with "Trichotillomania" but a final stamp of approval in this realm might require higher quality fidelity [and maybe a couple of tweaks in Melodyne]. I like to go to In and Out Burger a couple Saturdays a month; some people call that "junk food." I call it a diversion from Tex Mex, Lean Cuisine [insert your own monotonous gastronomic fare of choice here]. I consider In and Out to be one of the best for what they do; no one should go into that establishment and expect filet mignon with escargo and a wine list. Each eating paradigm is an experience unto its own with neither being "better" than the other but, rather, different. And so, listening to Capt'n Neckbeard, for me, is like a great trip to In and Out. I love it for what it is and isn't and it is done extremely well within its own right. "Trichotillomania" is a serious piece of music that presents itself as a form of incidental music [let's call it a cousin of incidental music] whereby the disorder [give it a Google if you haven't already] is being depicted, and, shall I dare say, prompted, by the Capt'n in this piece. The juxtaposition of the non-serious sound with the seemingly serious intent of the piece make for high art. Listening to the piece one might get the feeling that they want to pull their hair out at some point. This is NOT meant as criticism but a compliment to the design of the piece. Neckbeard has crafted a tiny opera with definite form, modality, and contrast not unlike, at least in form, some of the 15-minute opuses of Harry Chapin [i.e. "The Last Band on the Titanic"]. A nice achievement indeed! Jon Charles Fortman, producer, composer for The Antique Harmoniums

Musical Comedy!

I can see this in a theatre performance. Capt'n Neckbeard has some great rhythm and beats with some odd instruments and sounds. The operatic funny bone is tapped with some soaring notes and emotional ups and downs. I'm sure this is not everyone's cup of tear, but thanks for being one unique performer!

Fun

This is a fun"happy go lucky" tune. Reminded me of a song Jack Black would write/sing. I laughed the whole way through and also danced and sang along. The quality of the recording could be a little better, but over all I liked it :)

Good

Long myth and funny, but good, I think we need to make some adjustments, the soil is a little fulfilled even put some other dynamic with other serious instruentos good! she has good resonance but in the end the music is too loud

Funny Song

Definitely an interesting song. I can tell you have added a kazoo to the number of instruments you have in your song. It is good to always add some interesting instruments or sounds to your tunes since you are focusing on catering to a crowd that is listening for the comedy aspect of your music. The song is a little lengthy, but you change it up quite a bit to help from sounding too repetitive.

Pushing Back The Boundaries

Helpful

Well, the Capt'n certainly can't be accused of being conventional...he's pushing back the boundaries of our preconceptions of what a song should be. You'd think 7 minutes would be too long, but just when you're about ready to hurl a brick through your PC screen as the snare drum beats the hell out of your attention span, everything suddenly changes and you get an in-your-face psycopathic vocal or a free-jazz style kazoo solo. It's stripped down, it's punk, it's folk, it's everything and nothing you want it to be. It's mad and it won't help you get your three-month-old to sleep. It's Capt'n Neckbeard.

Originality

This is so unique, so strange to me; but I love it! It's very retro, clearly something you would have to give multiple listens in order to grasp the concect. I got a kick out of the horns myself lol. There's nothing wrong with originality, and that's something you have here.
