Remarkable Cover Version

These recording unleashes again the imagination of the most popular song of the musical Evita written by Andrew Lloyd Webber und Tim Rice. First single recorded and made popular by Julie Covington released in 1977. The song was in the UK and different other countries No.1 Hit. A song with deep heartful and important messages for a free Argentina. Julie was a class all by herself. But now comes Brenda Hérbert in this great interpretation with her unique dynamic voice and brilliant vocal projection very close. She is singing with heart and soul and brings really new feeling into the song. The professionel chamber orchester arrangement sounds really virtuos and carries this outstanding recording. This impressive cover-version is worth to listen and I´m sure you will like add it. Let others know your recommendation.

Vocals

The review has to be about the vocal performance since it´s a cover and very hard to compete with professional arangements and recordings. Your voice has a nice timbre there are however a little bit to many unsecure notes here and there. You are definitely skilled but I think you can work out the song in every detail more thoroughly and why not strip the arrangement down and look for a more personal aproach to he song. It´s a little bit trying to do it as close to the original idea as possible Im not sure that realy promotes your nice voice. Maybe you did this as a showcase for work possibilities then I think my thoughts about perfection is important otherwise a personal touch would be interesting and you could allow yourself to be more free in your interpretation. It was a joy to listen to your nice voice anyhow but my rating will not be so high firstly because it´s a cover and also that I´m not realy sure what to rate. A personal statement or a showcase for work. BR Dan ! possibilities.

Very NIce Rendition....Beautiful !!!

Congratulations to Brenda Herbert on this one. I was very captivated by the sound and the feel of this rendition . Mixed very well, and the ambience of the Orchestral work as well as the vocal work and the instrumentation on this one are great. It has a old time jazz feel that brings back the memories of jazz back in the day. A studio recording done very well. Congratulations on this beautiful piece of work !!! Keep up the GREAT work !!!

Nice vocal number...

I really like a nice vocal number of covering some of the classics. I found what I expected here. A calm and matured voice singing a familiar melody of standard numbers. It is important when you open a bottle of wine that should have a flavor you expected. Yes, this is it...

Don't Cry for me Argentina

I thought this was going to be an instrumental version because of the long intro. For these purposes you might consider shortening it. You have a beautiful voice. But what I'm missing is the emotional connection. I would love to hear you do it again AS THE CHARACTER. You have it in you and you voice is PERFECT for it. I would have given it 5 stars with that. Looking forward to it!

This is a really nice song...You have a good voice and your high notes are quite clear ...This is an elegant version... thanks to share your talent with us !!!! The musical arragements are quite cinematic, maybe allow it a little more frontal presence ...Great job...Music is life and life is music !!!!

Brenda don't cry me argentia

OK so dying your hair purple is a very good indication to employers that your ready to go to work and a quick look at Brenda's page and there are a few more theatre pieces here. It is easy to understand why a lady would want to cover this song, a nice slow ballad. But the problem I would be aware of is who has already covered it, so the first thing that came to my mind was madona in evita and then a google search reveals the best female pop singer also covered it {karen carpenter} and then there is getting into good enough for classical like sarah brightman. So it is a bit unavoidable that people will think of some of these other singers but its still good enough to be working. Would I cover pavaroti? err no I think I would go for something people have not heard so much.

AWESOME!

Brenda you just ROCK! What a beautiful voice. These type songs are so hard to sing, but apparently not for you. You did a really great job. I liked the control you have of your voice. Look forward to hearing more from you as an Artist. Great Job, keep going. Sincerely Edward Westbrook "Atomic Energy Society"

Orchestral covering with a nice voice lead

Very orchestral intro that I like, but then everything seem to turn in a softer mood. The voice is very clear and nice to hear. She has a beautiful, the voice sounds emotional and feeling everything from the original song. The turning mood is a bit to hard for me, there could be more accompaniment, louder piano and also other parts. And also the brass sections doesn't really fit for me. This song exponates the voice. The orchestral end is nice but I miss the final chord, but maybe its original. Nice work go on with and keep your voice practicing.

Wonderful !!

Hi Brenda !! I am amazed with this interpretation of this beautiful and emotional song, which in your voice acquires a character full of passion and dedication, which almost makes Evita's feelings live. The orchestration, mixing, the choirs, the production and everything that surrounds the song, is extraordinary. Your voice, always in the foreground, looks in all its splendor. Congratulations !!

Cry no More

One of the things I enjoy most about Number One Music artists is the newfound ability to hear music from around the world by singers who I'd never have the chance to listen to otherwise. That, in itself, is a great thing. Here, with this song we get another remake of a song that we don't need a remake on. However, Brenda's voice is simply stunning to hear. Expertly produced, mixed and mastered. Well worth the listen.
