BLUTO - Jimmy Reed the MAN behind it .
John from Bluto here. People asking about my beginnings on the guitar back when. Late in the 6th grade my brother Roy was getting serious playing the bass and guitar. He listened to some really great LP's when he could. One day he started teaching me the BASICS of the 12 bar Blues and Rock N Roll . The best example for me was listening to JIMMY REED Live at Carnegie Hall. He plays the pure BLUES that shows you How , When , Where & Why you play that soulfull longing type of MUSIC . It's not POP at all but sped up and you get Cream , Led Zepplin ,John Mayall & The Yardbirds. The big British Blues explosion was a direct result of the American Black artists that went to England for an audience when it wasn't happening here.
Anyone wanting to learn guitar or just learn the history of Rock N Roll should listen to that album free on YouTube. (Johnny Winters made a lot of old songs sound new again by turning up the speed but Jimmy Reed wrote the songs ) Spring is upon us and I wish World Peace came with it. Humanity has to learn to live together and play nice if there is to be a long term future for US ALL. PEACE
