About Bishop L E Franklin
Bishop (expired link). Franklin began singing at the early age of 5 in the children choir with the Mona Church of Christ in Los Angeles, Ca., it wasn't until the age of 12 he realized that he had a love for music. When Lester Jr. relocated to Oakland, Ca with his mother he joined the children choir at Landmark Spiritual Temple under the leadership of Bishop I. E. Nero, Landmark had a Radio/(expired link) Broadcast every Sunday and traveled nationally every summer. At the age of 13 Lester participated in the chorale at Lowell Jr. High School, by the age 14 he was attending Emery High School and joined the school band under the directorship of Mr. Lynwood Staples, when asked what instrument he want to play, Lester was interest in the piano but Mr. Staple gave him a trombone instead and taught him to play, within two month Lester was playing with the marching band, concert band, and jazz band. By the age 16 a few of the school band members formed a funk band call "Touch of Class" and it was when Lester's light began to shine bright and a fire began to burn. Lester played tembolis
